Residential Renovations Serves the Greater Findlay Area Residents

The population was 41,202 at the 2010 census. It is home to the University of Findlay. The city's official nickname is "Flag City, USA". Findlay is one of two cities in Hancock County, along with Fostoria. Findlay is the second largest city in Northwest Ohio.

Findlay's official nickname is "Flag City, USA" and is one of two cities in Hancock County, along with Fostoria, however Findlay is the second largest city in Northwest Ohio and home to the University of Findlay.

History notes: John B. Cooke, a member of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), believed it was important to fly the American Flag and had the inspirational idea that every house in Findlay should fly an American Flag on Flag Day, June 14.

A fund was created to be controlled by the John Hancock Chapter of the SAR and it was his goal to buy 14,000 small flags to be distributed by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire Girls. A plaque would also be purchased in memory of and honor to those men and women who have carried the torch of freedom for our country.

On Wednesday, June 12, 1968, the Honorable Jackson E. Betts, Representative to Congress from District 4, made a presentation in the House of Representatives and shortly there after Findlay's Flag day became the known for the largest exhibitions of patriotism in the United States.

During the 1880s, Findlay was a booming center of oil and natural gas production, but unfortunately dwindled to nothing by the early 20th century. Over the years Findlay has achieved many great recognitions including for three months in the early 60s, Findlay had the historic distinction of being the only community in the world where touch-tone telephone service was available when it was first introduced on November 1, 1960.

The Blanchard River travels through Findlay, flowing east to west and the Findlay Reservoir No. 2 is noted as the largest above ground reservoir in the state of Ohio, with a capacity of 5 billion US gallons.

Most notable for the area is the economy with several large employers including Cooper Tire & Rubber Company, Whirlpool Corporation, Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center, Marathon Petroleum, Best Buy Distribution Center, Nissin Brake, Lowe's Distribution Center, and Kohl's Distribution Center.

However even with all of the above - the area is best known for its community’s support of good educational programs, services and people!
